After a leisurely morning we packed and left for Lake Manyara National Park, a couple hours' drive from Tarangire. The Manyara Lodge is perched on a cliff overlooking the lake which occupies 235 sq.km of the 325 sq.km park.

From the lodge we have an insane view of the park. After checking in, we are advised to keep our sliding doors to our rooms locked because the baboons have figured out how to open the doors and will come in and mess up your room. We have a little pool time before lunch, then an afternoon game drive. Every park is incredibly different form the last. LMNP is densely wooded, rich with greens and dark chocolate browns. It looks more like a redwood forest. The trails eventually lead out towards the lake where thousands of flamingoes stake their claim to their own little piece of the lake bed.
Today we saw giraffes, lots of baboons (crossing the street on the way to the park), blue monkeys, zebra, elephants and hippos. We have a running joke in terrible English accents where Mike plays a jaded son complaining about how bored he is to be on yet another safari with mumsy, "ho hum...it pleases mother so that I make this ghastly trip to Africa with her again. I cahn't bear to see another giraffe." Followed by fits of laughter.
It just doesn't get old.
